TurkStream delivers 1 billion cubic meters of Russian gas
Having started the commercial transfer of Russian gas to Turkey and Europe on Jan. 1, TurkStream has delivered 1 billion cubic meters of gas, according to a statement released Monday by Russian energy firm Gazprom. About 54% of this volume was delivered to the Turkish gas market and about 46% to the Turkish-Bulgarian border the Russian company said.

Giant petrochemical investment in Adana to cut Turkey’s current account deficit by $2 billion
Located at the intersection of consumer and producer markets, Turkey’s southeastern province of Adana is welcoming an $8 billion petrochemical investment. The project, to be realized with Turkish, Algerian, Dutch and South Korean partners, will reduce the current account deficit by an estimated $2 billion

Turkey plans to conduct solar and wind tenders of 10 GW each
Turkey plans to hold 10 GW of solar and 10 GW of wind tenders in next 10 years, as a part of Turkey’s Renewable Energy Resource Zone (YEKA) project. Turkey’s goal is to increase its energy capacity and to focus on renewable sources, Berat Albayrak, Turkey’s energy and natural resources minister announced earlier this week. In terms of energy growth demand, Turkey is the second country in the world (after China). Its energy sector is also heavily dependent on imports with an average of EUR 35 billion for energy imports.

Investors seek to acquire feed-in tariff solar energy projects – Egypt
Prices range between $2m and 5m per company. Informed sources said that ten Egyptian, American, Chinese, French, and Emirati investors offered to buy or contribute to the projects of the second phase of the feed-in tariff solar energy project. The offers include paying the solar energy companies the costs that they had paid to the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC).

TANAP project 75 percent complete
Over 75 percent of the work on the TANAP project for the delivery of Azerbaijani natural gas to Turkey has been completed, Azertac reported citing TANAP Director General Saltuk Duzyol. He went on to say that TANAP is being constructed in two phases, including Phase-0 is of 56 inches diameter and 1 334 km long. Construction works in this phase are being carried out on the route starting from Turkish-Georgian border stretching to Eskisehir.

TANAP strengthens grievance redress mechanism
The consortium of Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project has set up Appeals Committees in order to bring credibility to the grievance redress process. The Appeals Committees are comprised of independent members who are not associated with the project’s implementation.The Committees will meet at least once a month or more often depending on the number and frequency of complaints made directly to them.

Russia ratifies bill on Turkish Stream gas pipeline
Russia announced late on Dec. 16 that it had approved a bill to ratify the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline project. The bill was passed by the Russian government and was sent to the Duma, the lower house of Russia’s parliament, the Kremlin said in a statement.
