Asia braces for wave of oil and gas M&A
$40bn of assets owned by major Western producers could be up for grabs -Merger and acquisition activity in Asia’s energy sector will accelerate this year as crude oil prices stabilize and major Western oil producers seek to divest assets in the region, analysts say. Royal Dutch Shell announced plans in late January to sell its stake in a Thai field to a Kuwait company for $900 million. Shell, Chevron, Total, ExxonMobil and Eni are believed to be willing to potentially sell up to $40 billion in assets, with disposals expected in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Malaysia, China and New Zealand.

Tenaga Nasional plans to buy 50% stake in Vortex Solar for $106.5 million
Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia’s national power utility, said Friday it plans to buy a 50% stake in U.K. based Vortex Solar Investments for 86 million pounds ($106.5 million) as part of its global expansion program.

Turkey to chair Energy Club of SCO in 2017
Ankara, Nov 24 (IANS) Turkey will chair the Energy Club of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in 2017, becoming the first non-SCO country to hold its term presidency. According to Turkish Energy Ministry officials, Ankara’s proposal for non-SCO member countries to assume the term presidency of the Energy Club was accepted in a meeting on Tuesday, and Turkey was elected to chair the Energy Club in 2017.

Chinese bidders expected for nuclear project|Business|chinadaily.com.cn
