Turkey Requests Feasibility Study for Solar Storage Solutions
The project is part of Turkey’s strategic plan to reach the national renewable energy target of 30 percent of the total electricity generated from renewable source by 2030. As part of this strategic ambition, the Turkish Ministry for Energy announced in late February 2018 to issue another two GW of renewable projects in summer 2018, one of which will consist of solar. With this new two GW tender, the government aims to reach its goal of 5 GW installed solar capacity by 2023.

Turkey Targets $5B Investment In Wind Energy By End-2017
Turkey aims to have $5 billion in wind energy investments by the end of this year, with the awarding of additional wind capacity tenders, the president of the Turkish Wind Energy Association, Mustafa Serdar Ataseven, said in an interview on Friday.Turkey will launch on December 25 a five-day-long tender for 2,130. Currently, Turkey has 11 GW of wind power stock on hand, Ataseven said, adding that the national target is to reach 20 GW of installed capacity by 2023.

Turkey gives Rosatom go ahead to build nuclear plant
Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) won approval from Turkey’s energy watch dog EMRA on Thursday to go ahead with building its $20 billion Akkuyu nuclear power plant in southern Turkey.

Asia braces for wave of oil and gas M&A
$40bn of assets owned by major Western producers could be up for grabs -Merger and acquisition activity in Asia’s energy sector will accelerate this year as crude oil prices stabilize and major Western oil producers seek to divest assets in the region, analysts say. Royal Dutch Shell announced plans in late January to sell its stake in a Thai field to a Kuwait company for $900 million. Shell, Chevron, Total, ExxonMobil and Eni are believed to be willing to potentially sell up to $40 billion in assets, with disposals expected in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Malaysia, China and New Zealand.

Turkey’s energy watchdog EPDK imposed a two-month cap of 500 liras per megawatt hour on electricity prices on Friday after prices rose to their highest level in years.Turkey’s daily natural gas consumption has risen to record highs since December, largely due to colder-than-usual weather triggering higher power consumption.

Turkey to boost gas capacity with investment, floating units
The BOTAŞ Pipeline Corporation aims to increase the daily capacity of Turkey’s natural gas system to 350 million cubic meters (mcm) per day from the current 200 mcm, according to official statistics.
